My bf is joining a frat??!!! good or bad?

So I'm a senior and my bf just went off to college. He hasnt told me but I have heard from his other friends that he is interested in joining a fraternity. Is this a good thing? I mean, would he do it to meet other s do you think (from sororities?)? He isnt that type of guy.. it just bugs me.
